Mark Cutifani appointed Vice-President of the Chamber Of Mines
Members of the Chamber of Mines of South Africa today elected Mr Mark Cutifani, Chief Executive Officer of AngloGold Ashanti, as the second Vice-President of the Chamber of Mines for the year 2009/2010 at the Chamber of Mines’ 119 Annual General meeting.
Mr Sipho Nkosi, Chief Executive of Exxaro Resources was re-elected President while Mr David Noko, Managing Director of De Beers Consolidated Mines, was re-elected Vice-President. Mr Robbie Lazare of AngloGold Ashanti did not avail himself for re-election.
Mr Cutifani has considerable experience in mining, having been associated with the industry since 1976. Prior to joining AngloGold Ashanti in 2007, Mr Cutifani held the position of Chief Executive Officer of CVRD Inco, a Toronto (Canada) based company where he was responsible for Inco’s global nickel business and Chief Operating Officer of Inco Ltd in Canada prior to CVRD’s takeover of Inco.
